Gas safety

Landlord Safety Certificates

Under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 it is a legal requirement for landlords to ensure that gas installations and appliances are maintained in good order and checked for safety at least every 12 months by a member of the Gas Safe Register.

A copy of the Safety Certificate must be given to the tenant and a copy kept by the landlord for 2 years.

Mains Carbon Monoxide Monitors

CO monitors provide an additional measure of gas safety. Although not yet a legal requirement, CO monitors are recommended to meet your obligations to keep tenants safe and can easily be fitted at the same time as mains smoke alarms.
